Ayanami Rei
..Ayanami Rei is often referred to as the "Blue Hair Babe of Evangelion"... and "Wondergirl" to those who are more of Asuka-fans ¬.¬... Rei's past and history has been erased, and her personality doesn't add much to it. Shinji's feelings towards Rei are a bit akward.. she reminds him of his mother, Yui.. Rei is the pilot of Evangelion Unit - 00, which is the Prototype Model of the Evangelions. It is blue in color (as it was orignally yellow-gold). This EVA has gone berserk many times over, and some ways, it looked as if it was trying to kill Rei. Strangely, even though Rei's synchronic ratio with Unit - 00 is high, she still cannot compete with Shinji, Asuka and Kaworu's Results with their EVAs..(well, Asuka before Genesis 0:12). Rei is a quiet girl, and rarely ever shows Anger, Fear or Happiness. One person in which she actually communicates with is Commander Ikari Gendou, Shinji's Father. Rei has gone through several stages of life, due to her being a simple Dummy Plug, Clone, Doll or whatever you would like to call it. The First Rei, Rei I, was a child-like form, but succummed to death at the hands of Dr. Akagi Naoko.. The Second Rei, Rei II, was simple enough; nothing like the vivatious child-Rei, but succummed to death by self-destructing herself and EVA-00 in Genesis 0:12. The Third and Current Rei, Rei III, is just like Rei II, but oddly remembers and yet, doesn't remember memories the other two had...Perhaps she tend to have a selective memory each time she's been 're-born'?...Odd, yes, but Rei's significance plays a major role in Evangelion. Once Shinji finds out the unspeakable truth of Rei's origin, he can't help but try and avoid her as much as possible..being afraid of saying the wrong thing.. doing the wrong actions. Shinji still feels his bond with Rei, and eventually speaks to her once more.
